Job Description

About PackageX

PackageX is building the Physical Logistics Execution Platform for enterprise teams operating across manufacturing sites, distribution centers, warehouses, retail locations, and logistics-heavy environments.

Our platform uses Vision AI, workflow automation, mobile execution, and integrations to help companies digitize, execute, and verify physical operations at the point of work, creating trusted evidence of what happened across their operations.

Our operating model is simple: Execution. Verification. Evidence.

Role Overview

PackageX is looking for a

Forward Deployed Engineer - Mobile

to work directly with customers, prospects, sales, product, engineering, AI, and implementation teams to understand complex physical operations, design PackageX workflows, and implement solutions that work in real-world environments.

This role is focused on enterprise workflow design, solution configuration, customer operations, technical implementation, and go-live success. From pre-sales solution design through pilot, implementation, testing, rollout, and go-live, you’ll serve as a technical point of contact, translating customer requirements into validated, production-ready solutions.

Working across manufacturing sites, distribution centers, warehouses, retail locations, and other logistics-heavy environments, you’ll map workflows, configure the PackageX platform, support pilots, troubleshoot issues, and help customers go live successfully.

This is a customer-facing, technical, and hands-on role. The right person can configure workflows in the platform and partner with Product and Engineering to close technical gaps. This is more than a pre-sales or solution design role. You’ll write code, configure workflows, provision devices, debug on the floor, and get customers live.

How This Role Works

This is one role with two modes, and you’ll move between them constantly, often inside the same week.

Solution mode. You are in front of the customer: running discovery, mapping current-state and future-state operations, designing the workflow, configuring it in the PackageX platform, and driving the pilot through to go-live.

Build mode. You are in the PackageX React Native codebase, shipping the mobile features that configuration alone cannot express, then putting them in front of that same customer and iterating.

Both halves are required. Shipping production React Native code is a gate for this role, not a bonus, and so is direct customer-facing work. If you have deep enterprise implementation experience but have not shipped mobile code, or you are a strong mobile engineer with no appetite for standing on a warehouse floor with a customer, this is not the right role.

What You’ll Own

  • Code contributions to the PackageX React Native application where customer needs exceed what configuration can deliver
  • Customer workflow discovery and process mapping
  • Pre-sales solution design and technical workflow support
  • Current-state and future-state workflow design
  • PackageX workflow configuration and hands-on implementation
  • Pilot setup, testing, validation, and rollout support
  • Customer technical ownership through solution design, implementation, and go-live
  • Translation of customer requirements into working platform solutions
  • Workflow documentation, configuration logic, QA, and implementation readiness
  • Internal solution handoffs to product, engineering, AI, and implementation teams
  • Identification of reusable workflow patterns
  • Support for strategic demos, pilots, readouts, and enterprise rollouts

What You’ll Do

  • Join customer and prospect conversations during pre-sales to understand real operational workflows
  • Connect with customers for discovery, workflow mapping, operational walkthroughs, pilot support, readouts, and go-live activities
  • Map current-state and future-state processes
  • Translate customer workflows into PackageX platform configurations
  • Configure workflows, rules, forms, logic, automations, and solution components
  • Build the parts that don’t exist yet: mobile features, workflow logic, integration glue
  • Support discovery, solution design, demos, pilots, and technical validation
  • Help implement pilots and customer rollouts from design through go-live
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for customers during solution design, implementation, testing, and go-live
  • Test workflows and troubleshoot configuration, workflow, data, integration, and operational issues
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, AI, and Implementation teams to improve execution and identify reusable platform patterns
  • Document workflow requirements, assumptions, dependencies, configuration logic, and implementation decisions
  • Identify opportunities to configure, automate, productize, escalate, or manually solve customer needs
  • Support strategic accounts requiring deeper workflow design and hands-on solution building
  • Help build repeatable workflow playbooks by industry and use case

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 90 days:

  • Strategic customer workflows are documented clearly before implementation
  • Customer workflows are configured, tested, and ready for deployment within the PackageX platform
  • Pilots and rollouts move faster because workflow design and implementation gaps are identified early
  • Time-to-go-live is tracked and improved for assigned implementations
  • Customers have a clear technical point of contact from solution design through go-live
  • At least one customer-blocking gap has been closed by you in code rather than escalated to the core team
  • Sales, Implementation, Product, and Engineering teams have cleaner handoffs and better-defined workflow requirements
  • Reusable workflow patterns are identified across customers to improve future implementations
  • Strategic discovery, demos, pilots, readouts, and rollouts are better supported
  • Customer workflow knowledge becomes more structured, repeatable, and actionable

Ideal Background

Solution and implementation

  • 5+ years in solutions architecture, enterprise implementation, workflow design, technical consulting, field deployment, or hands-on solution engineering
  • Experience working directly with enterprise customers, not only through a PM or account team
  • Experience configuring or implementing enterprise software platforms from solution design through go-live
  • Strong understanding of operational workflows, systems, data flows, and implementation dependencies
  • Comfortable with APIs, integrations, enterprise systems, configuration logic, workflow automation, and technical documentation

Mobile engineering

  • Hands-on React Native development experience: able to read an unfamiliar codebase, ship a feature, and open a reviewable PR without handholding. Native iOS or Android depth is a plus
  • Experience with device camera work: barcode scanning, OCR, or on-device ML

How You Work

  • Strong communication skills with both business and technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable working on customer sites and creating structure in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
  • Strong curiosity about logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, warehousing, retail, and physical operations
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
