Job Description

Company Description

AIMA OPEX develops AI-powered tools that help manufacturers capture operational knowledge and transform it into clear, structured standard operating procedures (SOPs). We help factory teams document how work is performed and provide operators with practical, visual instructions.

Role Description

We are looking for a Manufacturing / Process Improvement Engineer with experience developing, reviewing and improving manufacturing SOPs and work instructions.

The primary focus of this role is to review and refine AI-generated operations within the AIMA OPEX platform. You will examine each operation and its individual steps, verify technical accuracy against factory source material, and correct procedures, parts, tools, quantities and supporting images.

You will work closely with factory associates and AIMA’s implementation and engineering teams to ensure instructions accurately reflect approved factory processes and are easy for operators to follow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review AI-generated SOPs, operations and individual steps for technical accuracy, completeness and correct sequence.
  • Verify and correct part names, tool requirements, quantities, units and relevant specifications against available factory documentation.
  • Refine step procedures into clear, precise instructions that operators can follow consistently.
  • Check that each step’s images show the correct action, tools, components and assembly stage.
  • Find and select suitable replacement images from factory associates’ notes and supporting material available within the platform.
  • Cross-reference instructions with factory notes, photos, videos, bills of materials and engineering drawings, where available.
  • Identify missing steps, ambiguous wording, conflicting information and potential safety or quality concerns; obtain clarification before finalising instructions.
  • Maintain consistent terminology and documentation standards across operations.
  • Recommend improvements to work instructions and flag process improvement opportunities for review by the relevant factory team.
  • Track corrections, prepare SOPs for approval and share recurring AI-generated errors with AIMA’s engineering team.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • Hands-on experience creating, validating or improving manufacturing SOPs, assembly instructions or standardised work documentation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflows, tools and components.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and identify discrepancies between written instructions and supporting visual evidence.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly when checking parts, quantities, specifications and step sequences.
  • Strong written English, with the ability to explain technical procedures clearly and concisely.
  • Effective communication skills for resolving questions with factory associates and cross-functional teams.
  • Confidence using digital platforms to review, edit and organise technical content.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, quality assurance or continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, standardised work and error prevention.
  • Experience interpreting bills of materials, engineering drawings or visual assembly guides.
  • Experience working with AI-generated documentation or digital work-instruction systems.

What Success Looks Like

Complete, technically accurate and visually clear SOPs that reflect approved factory processes, with correct parts, tools and quantities, appropriate images, and unresolved questions addressed before publication.
