Job Overview
Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan and Pakistan Reinsurance Company Limited (PRCL) invite applications from qualified, experienced, and high-caliber Islamic finance professionals for advisory services as Shariah Advisor on a contractual basis. The appointment will initially be made for a period of two (2) years, further extendable subject to satisfactory performance, company requirements, and Board approval.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide expert advice and authoritative guidance on Re-Takaful policies, operations, and services.
- Ensure that all Re-Takaful operations, investments, contracts, and company agreements strictly adhere to Shariah principles.
- Ensure full compliance with rules, regulations, guidelines, rulings, or decisions issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) regarding Takaful and Re-Takaful matters.
- Assist in the formulation, review, and implementation of Shariah-compliant Re-Takaful policies, underwriting procedures, and manuals.
- Provide technical advice and structured guidance in accordance with Shariah principles on handling facultative and treaty Re-Takaful arrangements.
- Conduct training and educational sessions for officers and executives of the Company on Takaful and Re-Takaful standards.
- Fulfill all mandatory functions and statutory duties outlined under the Takaful Rules 2012.
- Undertake any other specialized assignment or task designated by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or the Board of Directors.
Eligibility Criteria
- Qualification Option 1: Shahadat-ul-Aalamiyyah degree (Darse-Nizami) from any recognized Board of Madaris, combined with a Bachelor degree recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan with a minimum of 2nd Class, along with at least four (4) years experience of issuing Shariah rulings in Fiqh-ul-Muamulat (including the period of Takhasus fil Ifta), and comprehensive knowledge of Islamic finance, Takaful, and Re-Takaful.
- Qualification Option 2: A Post-Graduate degree in Islamic jurisprudence / Usooluddin L.L.M (Shariah) and an accredited certificate in Takaful.
- Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience as a Shariah Advisor in the Takaful industry. Proficiency in English and comprehensive knowledge of applicable Pakistani commercial and insurance laws are essential.
- Preference: Candidates with academic teaching experience in Islamic finance at reputable Pakistani universities or holding an M.Phil or Ph.D. in Islamic Finance.
- Age Limit: Maximum 55 years as on the closing date of application.
Remuneration and Terms of Appointment
The selected Shariah Advisor will receive a fixed monthly consultancy and advisory fee (after statutory tax deductions), mutually agreed upon during the interview commensurate with the candidate's relevant, verifiable expertise and industry standing.
